NetHome Server has been a background hobby project of mine for a couple of years. I have probably put down in the vicinity of 1000 hours into it, including the hardware hacks.

I am running the server at home, controlling lamps, Stereo/TV-devices and measuring temperatures.

Some of the modules are quite specific to hardware I have built (the IR-control devices) but most of the things are general and should work everywhere.

Currently I am working with this myself, but if I find others interested in this I might consider turning this into an open source project.
