Current State Of The Project
NetHome Server has been a background hobby project of mine for a couple of years. I have probably put down in the vicinity of 1000 hours into it, including the hardware hacks.
I am running the server at home, controlling lamps, Stereo/TV-devices and measuring temperatures.
Some of the modules are quite specific to hardware I have built (the IR-control devices) but most of the things are general and should work everywhere. I am constantly updating the documentation of the modules on this site.
Things that should be added to the project are:
- LIRC/WinLIRC-Connection for generic IR control
- Nicer end user WEB-GUI
- Auto Discovery-feature for FS20-units, so you don't have to tap in the addresses manually
- Plugin interface to add new components without having to rebuild the server
- More complete automated unit tests
Currently I am getting contributions and and feedback from other users of NetHomeServer, but so far I am the only one coding on it. If I find others interested in this I might consider turning this into an open source project.
If you like, you can download the server in its current state from the download page
I can be reached via mail at homeserver at net home dot nu (hopefully you can figure it out but the bots not)
